Blended Learning 8-12 June
At the Senior Leadership Team meeting Tuesday (2 June) it was decided to maintain the Blended Learning model for the week of Monday 8 June to Friday 12 June. This decision was made in light of the recent increase of cases in Kitakyushu area and the increase in numbers in Tokyo. The school is also mindful that Japanese local schools open full time on Monday 15th of June. This will allow the school to monitor the outcome of their return.
KIS now plans to return to full time classes on campus starting Monday 15 June.
We appreciate that this may impact your decision to return your children to KIS under this model. We fully support your decision.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to reach out.
Dear KIS community members,
Thank you for your ongoing support of the PTA and KIS!
We, the PTA, have decided not to collect the PTA fee from each family for the next academic year in 2020-2021, given the difficult circumstances we are all in right now.
It has been our mission to organize and support fun and educational events for the students, the school and the community, and we do really hope that this decision will contribute to making us a stronger community.
As always, please feel free to contact us with any comments, questions, ideas or issues that regard the KIS community - firstname.lastname@example.org
We will share further information in the coming weeks!
Thank you again and have a great weekend,
Tuition and Fess 2020-21
Dear KIS Community,
KIS has taken into account the current challenges surrounding the school year and the next academic year. In consideration of the many physical, social and financial challenges that are being faced by our community members at this time, there has been a number of allowances including:
- No raising of tuition for next academic year (except an adjustment for Early Years One)
- Multiple tuition payment options to assist parents
The school will continue to explore ways in which it can further support the KIS community as soon as final enrollment numbers for the academic year can be confirmed.
Thank you again for your continued support, patience and understanding during these challenging times.

Tuition has been discounted for currently enrolled KIS students. This decision was made to support families during these challenging times and provide more face-to-face time:

*TIME* 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Grade 5 PYP Exhibition 2020
This year’s PYP Exhibition has been focused on taking action towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We started in February, but have since adapted our action to reflect the current learning climate as well as our transdisciplinary theme of Where we are in place and time.
As such, the goal of this virtual Exhibition is to educate all of us in the hope that we can each make small changes that will together make a big difference.
Blended Learning Update
Dr Thomas N Lomax (BSc MBBS MRCGP DRCOG) provides expert updates for our school as a member of JCIS. This week he shared his insights into the importance of wearing masks and that this practice may continue for some time; being aware of peoples mental state in response to the recent challenges; and the recent increase in cases is not cause for alarm but needs to be monitored.
Preparation for full time days
Included in this weeks update on Blended Learning is a complete daily Timetable for when KIS returns to full time school. Whilst we cannot be definitive on a date, the school is aiming for a minimum of two full weeks to finish out this academic year.
For the Early Learning this will mean trialling next years model of EL students starting at 0830 and finishing at 1430. This is in response to feedback that the two 30 minute differences (current model of 9am-3pm) at the beginning and end of the day were more disruptive for families.
